Hydrochlorothiazide – HydroDIURIL drug belongs to the Thiazide class
of diuretics which is believed to be acting on the kidneys for
decreasing sodium re-absorption in the distal convoluted tubule.
This in turn diminishes the osmotic pressure in the kidneys, causing
minimized water to be reabsorbed by the collecting ducts which
ultimately leads to more urinary output.
Like any other drug, Hydrochlorothiazide – HydroDIURIL too has
several side effects of which most commonly reported are: weakness,
diarrhoea and stomach cramps. Though the side effects of
Hydrochlorothiazide–HydroDIURIL drug are minor but if the patient
experiences any serious effects such as unexplained skin rashes,
convulsions or wheezing, he should immediately consult his
healthcare provider or doctor.
Based on the extensive clinical studies and trials and assessing
thousands of people across the world, the side effects caused by
Hydrochlorothiazide–HydroDIURIL have been documented and compared to
the effects that take place in the similar group of people not
taking this medication. It reveals that side effects include:
dizziness or spinning sensation called vertigo, low blood pressure
or hypotension, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, constipation, higher
blood sugar or hyperglycemia, electrolyte imbalances including low
blood sodium or hyponatremia, low potassium or hypokalemia and low
blood chloride or hypochloremia.
Also hypomagnesaemia, hypouricemia and gout, increased blood sugar
levels, increased levels of cholesterol and headache are noticed in
some of patients taking Hydrochlorothiazide – HydroDIURIL. Besides
these, complaints like sensitivity to the sun, muscle spasm,
inflammation of pancreas or pancreatitis, hair loss and erectile
dysfunction or ED or impotence are also reported in some cases.
